Need a break???…… Want to take a beach vacation???…………… Want to beat the crowd?………. Desire to snorkel???……..Craving for good food??…….Want to spend quality time with family?……………. Admire beautiful picturesque landscapes???……….. Romantic dinner with loved ones?…..

Phi Phi Islands is THE destination for YOU where you can get lost and get fully consumed by its beauty!

Koh Phi Phi, is an archipelago of six islands in the Krabi Province of Thailand. It is arguably one of the most scenic islands in the world and is easily approachable from Krabi (nearest airport) and Phuket (also has airport) by Ferry. We flew from Singapore to Phuket and then took a ferry to Phi Phi Islands. Many tourists stay at Krabi/ Phuket and do a day trip to Phi Phi islands. We, instead decided to stay in Phi Phi, something that I will highly recommend.

With my Wife. Well, who Doesn’t get Mischievous in Water? 😉

Highlights

Our Resort at the Phi Phi Islands!

The main islands is divided into two parts, the blissful north and the bustling south. The southern part of the city is known for nightlife and parties. The northern part offers beautiful resorts with sea view. The main mode of transportation across the island is the ‘Tail Boat’, signature boat of Thailand. There are no roads as such across the island.

We decided to stay at the northern tip of the island and checked in to the hotel around noon.  As soon as we reached, it was a time for a relaxing spa. Our resort had a great spa setup right at the sea and offered variety of options (THB 300 to 1000). Thai people are blessed in this art and a foot spa in the evening was quite relaxing.

Open Air Thai Massage and Spa! I Want MORE!

It was soon time for dinner. Most resorts offer great local food and have candle lit dining spaces right at the beach. Enjoying a glass of wine with my beloved and gushing sound of the sea waves in the background was indeed a blissful experience! We spent the entire evening embracing nature and having conversations that we didn’t have when we were busy in our mundane life.                                                            The following day, we went to Maya Bay. This was one of the filming locations of the Hollywood Movie, ‘The Beach’. It is a 45 minute boat ride from the main island. The staff at our resort was very helpful and they helped us arrange a Tail Boat for the whole day in about 2250 THB. This indeed was one of the most beautiful boat rides that I had ever done. I suggest reaching Maya Bay early in the morning so that you can have the place for yourself. This Bay is so popular that it gets very crowded during the day.

Maya Bay: Nature at its Best! With my Sister-In-Law!

Deep Bluish green crystal clear waters, Rocks/ Hills in the middle of the sea, strong breeze, bright sunshine and the company of my wife. What more could I have asked for! There is an entry ticket of 500 or 1000 THB for entering this area. Once you de-board the boat and look behind, I am sure your jaws will drop looking at the sheer beauty of nature. The beach is surrounded by mountainous structures from all sides with a small opening right in the front! It’s almost like a natural swimming pool.

Maya Bay: A Nature Lover’s Paradise!

After spending a couple of hours here and enjoying the beach, we decided to go to Ao Tonsai Pier for lunch. This was a much needed break as we needed to replenish our energy after being in water for a couple of hours. It was then time for Kayaking! Having done kayaking many times, this was my favorite experience, mainly because of the surrounding was so overwhelming. It was more like get into the waters and just stay there forever. Enjoy the breeze on your face, close your eyes and just stay there. It felt another universe. The water were crystal clear and we could see the corals on the sea bed even in very deep waters. I would love to re-live those moments again.

Tonsai Pier

We spent another couple of hours here Kayaking and then decided to head back to the hotel. How can you end the day without Thai Massage. After-all, our bodies terribly needed it given the amount of work we did. 😉

When You and Your Sister-in-Law Do Not Agree on Who Will Kayak?

Learning from the first day, we started our day quite early.  We finished breakfast and left for the boat at about 7 AM for the Nui Bay. You won’t believe it, we were the first people to reach here in the morning and had the whole beach to ourselves. ‘Nui Bay’ is quite close to the Northern part of the main island (about a 10 minute boat ride). The scenery was as beautiful as you could imagine. I hope I could do some justice to it in the pictures below. We spent 2-3 hours here, clicking pictures and enjoying the crystal clear water and the stunning scenery.

Nui Bay: That is Our Private Tail Boat and it can’t get any better than this!

Well, how can you say good bye to such a place after-all. It was really hard to come back to reality and to work. What remains now are memories of  heavenly landscapes, adorable people, delicious local food and relaxing Thai massage.
